The Department of Veterans' Services takes applications for benefits that provide financial and medical assistance to qualified veterans, their dependents and surviving spouses.

Information is also provided on all state and federal Veterans' programs. Forms are made available to obtain these benefits and assistance is given to complete them.

Veterans' Services Secretary Tom Kelley Seeks Returning Veterans' Input

Wrentham Veterans' Corner - December 2008

The Massachusetts Veterans' Bonus Division is offering one-time bonuses to World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and Gulf War Veterans as well as those who have served after 9/11/01. For more information, call (617) 367-9333, Ext. 859.

The Department of Veterans' Affairs has designated ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) as a service-connected disease. Veterans with 90 days or more of continuously active service in the military who have ALS are eligible for VA disability benefits and health care. This interim final regulation applies to all applications for benefits received on or after 9/23/08 or those that are pending before the VA.

Women Veterans should contact the Mass. Women Veterans' Network to be included in their database. Literature for women Veterans is available under the bulletin board in the Town Hall.

The US Family Health Plan provides for full TRICARE benefits. For more information, call 888-815-5510.

In partnership with Mass. Housing, the Home for the Brave program offers Veternas a number of benefits, including 100% financing, no down payment loans. These loands may be used to purchase a new home or refinance a home. These are available to all Mass. Veterans defined as eligible by Mass. General Laws. Active duty personnel and spouses of those killed in the line of duty may also be eligible. Home for the Brave loans are available through participating community banks. The updated Job Openings book for Veterans is still available at Town Hall. Job fair notices for each month are posted on the bulletin board.
