Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

The Town of Wrentham holds an annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day as a means of providing town residents with the opportunity to dispose of hazardous materials in a safe, environmentally friendly manner. This event will be held on May 14, 2010.

If you would like to volunteer to assist with the event please contact the Solid Waste & Recycling Committee at 508-384-5418.

To ensure safety, never smoke while handling items, avoid spills by tightening caps and lids, never mix chemicals, and use original labeled containers.  Pack your vehicle and go directly to the collection site.


What materials are accepted?

The following materials are collected at Wrentham's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day:

  • Oil-based paint, stains, thinners, varnishes, cleaning solvents
  • Adhesives, rubber cement, resins, glues
  • Pesiticides, herbicides, poisons, fertilizer
  • kerosene, antifreeze, brake fluid, car batteries
  • Chemistry sets, hobby/art suppies, photo chemicals
  • Mercury, thermometers, fluorescent light bulbs
  • Asbestos (double bagged and wetted)
  • Button and rechargeable batteries
  • Propane tanks (for a fee)
  • Auto and truck tires (for a fee)
  • Used motor oil (also first Saturday of each month)


What materials are NOT accepted?

Please do not bring the following materials to Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day:

  • Latex paint (use up, give away or dry out and then throw in municipal trash)
  • Explosives, ammunition
  • Biological or medical waste
  • Smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, radioactive or reactive materials
  • Dioxins
  • Commercial or industrial waste

Please contact a hazardous waste management company for disposal of any hazardous materials that are no accepted at Wrentham Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day.
